DEBBIE LAMP

COACH

LONG STORY SHORT

Debbie Lamp is seasoned like “cayenne pepper seasoned” and like “30-years seasoned” as a Higher Education Professional who has worked at small private schools and mid-sized public schools primarily in all areas of student involvement. Debbie has mastered the ability of wearing many hats simultaneously. Making connections and problem solving are two things that colleagues and clients appreciate about her. Debbie is currently the Associate Director of Student Involvement and Leadership at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Debbie is currently an Associate Coach with Collegiate Empowerment.

THE REST OF THE STORY

“What do you teach?” is the first question asked after I share that I work at Wright State University. WHAT DO I TEACH??  I teach LIFE!  Debbie believes—knows—there is more to college than a major and earning a degree. It is the work outside the classroom where the real college magic happens. She works hard every day to help students understand that when they are part of a co-curricular activity or club, they are enhancing their education and it is more than a resume builder these are transferable life skills they are learning.

Debbie was an English secondary education major in college, but really loved all of her co-curricular activities and thought it might be better to major in “college.” Luckily there were fantastic Higher Education Professionals who led her in the direction of Bowling Green State University where she earned two Master's degrees; one in college student personnel and the other in counseling.

Debbie has worked in the student activities realm at Capital University, Coastal Carolina University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Ohio Wesleyan University, and now Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. “Bloom where you’re planted” is her philosophy.

In what seems like yesterday and a long time ago all at the same time, Debbie met Tony D’Angelo and made a great decision to participate in coaching with Collegiate Empowerment. Debbie has been working with CE whenever possible at all of her institutions because she knows the quality of the presenters and the positive impact the programs have.

REAL GPA

Creativity and Relationship is Debbie’s Real GPA. Debbie is able to relate to clients on CE coaching calls and is full of ideas on how to make the most out of tough situations.

OUTSIDE OF CE

Beavercreek, Ohio is her current home where she resides with her sister and two cats (no, we’re not the neighborhood’s “crazy cat ladies” although we might be a little weird). Debbie is a beekeeper and has two hives that keep her busy. She doesn’t do it for the honey, she simply wants the world to be a better place and for pollinators to prosper. Debbie is an avid crafter, scrapbooker, and gardener. She makes treks back to the Jersey shore whenever possible.
