LONG STORY SHORT

After graduating with the same question he got into college with, “What am I going to do with my life?,” Joe Urbanski went on a mission studying every career book and endured what he affectionately calls a “two year interview process” to join the Collegiate Empowerment team. Now and for more than two decades, he fulfills his calling to guide people in finding purpose and meaning in their personal lives, relationships, and careers. Currently, as the Managing Director and Master Facilitator, Joe engineers kickass seminars that the CE Squad performs at more than 100 colleges and universities every year—both on stage and online.

THE REST OF THE STORY

It all started with an intense study of his own personal development and the question, “How do I get better—and in the process—help others do the same?” From there, Joe joined the Leadership Development Program in college (because his beautiful RA told him to), facilitated workshops on any topic under the sun, and ultimately became the organization’s president. After being encourage-forced by his LDP peers, he searched the 800-page Occupational Outlook Handbook at Career Services only to find zero desirable career paths—so he declared his own as an entrepreneur. Upon being turned down by three other Higher Education seminar companies, Joe was recommended to Collegiate Empowerment.

First transforming the website and marketing strategy, Joe was offered the opportunity to design the first series of multimedia PowerPoint slides with music and video so the CE team wouldn’t have to present from PDFs or click play for music CDs. It wouldn’t be long until Joe was asked to become Seminar Director of Design & Delivery (a title of his own choosing) to lead the authoring and packaging of all CE productions as part of the What Every College Student Needs To Know® Seminar Series. Now, as the Managing Director, Joe continues to lead the development of 35+ seminars, retreats, and conferences with 150+ hours of curriculum as well as the training and managing of the team of 10+ facilitators.
